Question

Unable to login into FaceTime

I had set up FaceTime for my friend when she got a new MacBook Air and it worked fine. Recently, she has been unable to login into FT and the preferences tab is greyed out.
This happened after she reset her iCloud password as she had forgotten the earlier password. iCloud also took some time to log back in but eventually works fine.
Except she is unable to login into FaceTime anymore. I had her restart her computer several times, and login and logout of iCloud a few times too. I also asked her to wait and login after some days but none of this has worked.
A friend made the rather drastic suggestion that she may need to reset her Apple ID completely.
Please suggest a way out. Thanks!

Best I can suggest here is to completely log out

of iCloud and then log in again using your Apple ID and new password.
FaceTime has it's own set of preferences and log in.
You "may" have to log OUT of FaceTime;
Facetime > Preferences > sign out
Then log back in again with the new password

Hope that helps

FT preferences is still greyed out

In reply to: Best I can suggest here is to completely log out

Like I said FT preferences is greyed out and not accessible so I am unable to either login or logout.

As I said in my post I also did ask her to sign out of iCloud but that has also not helped us get FT working again - the FT preferences is greyed out, still.

Is there some way to completely sign out of all kinds of Apple services so that FT may ask us for the login when we sign out of all these services and try to login in back again?

Thanks

Thanks, looks thorough

hopefully things will work out.

Btw, iMessages is not activated. Do you think that may have something to do with the FT login problem?

And could it make sense to just activate it first, and given that it'll require putting in the user name and ID maybe that'll make FT work too?

Thanks!
