For now, just install Free AVG from http://www.grisoft.com until Symantec helps you out.

Recently upgraded my av to NAV2004 via internet download directly from the symantec site. The Live update has never worked correctly since it was installed but everything else worked fine. so today I finally was able to call Symantec to find out why live update would not work. Was on the phone about 1 hr and they walked me through everything from deleting it and reinstalling it and charged me $30.00 to do so. Everything seemed to go fine it was going through the initial virus scan when we hung up. After that finished I tried to open Nav by clicking on my desktop icon and nothing will open. the NAV icon in the lower right corner has a red X through it. Have searched and searched their site and cant find an answer. Can anyone tell me why I cant launch NAV.
Am using NAV 2004 with Win ME
Am very computer illerate !!! So please reply in plain english.
Thanks

Problem solved. I called Norton again yesterday and while on hold and listening to their prerecorded messages I found the answer to my problem. Everything working perfect now.
Thanks
Nancy
I found my answer at www.service.symantec.com/fixit
click th + beside NAV then scroll down to cannot start NAV2004 after installation. Click on this then scroll down to Restore the NAV desktop icon to its default value. I did the following and it works perfectly now.
To restore the NAV desktop icon to its default value
The desktop icon will be different depending on whether NAV is installed as a stand-alone product or as part of Norton SystemWorks (NSW) or Norton Internet Security (NIS). Follow the steps that apply to your version of the product.
To restore NAV as a stand-alone product
On the Windows desktop, right-click the NAV or NAV Pro desktop icon, and then click Properties.
Click the Shortcut tab.
Type or copy and paste the following text in the Target: field:
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\NMain.exe" /dat:C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navui.nsi
Click OK.
