Unable to install some older software

Hi When i try to install some old software on my Acer notebook running on XP Home I get the mesagec: 16 Bit Windows subsystem . c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows appliations. Chosse 'close' to terminate the application.

I have tried using the compatibility settings but still it wont work. Surprisingly the program installs on by Dads IBM Notebook running on XP Pro.

Acer: Centrino 1.6Ghz ATI Radeon 9700 64MB and 512MBRAM

IBM : Celeron M 1.6Ghz Intel extreme graphics and 256MB RAM.

Pls help.

Another fix some have used is to do a search for autoexec.nt You will probably find a copy of it in C:\WINDOWS\repair. Copy and paste it into C:\WINDOWS\system32.
