Resolved Question

Unable to install programs

Jul 13, 2014 9:45PM PDT

I have posted on this subject before but so far had nothing helpful.
The problem is this I cannot load programs via the web (this may also be true of programs from disc) I have tried to install programs from Bank Tree, Dassault Systems, and numerous others and they all freeze during the initiation stages, I have tried installing in safe mode but this will not work as due to the safe mode, something is missing, so I turned off the firewall but this had no effect at all, this situation is driving me mad I'll bet it's the pesky Windows 8.1 that is the problem, the sooner it goes the better, all you chaps with brains the size of the universe should be able to help me

Now that we know they have some Windows 8.x machine, the UEFI Linux discussion can start.

In that other post they elected to post a data dump I could not decipher. Now that we have this post, it sounds like the current black hole yeah I bet you didn't know this but you can escape but this is all over the web issue.

If that were tiihe casie I would but I had it custom built, it works well other than this issue, there is a commonality to all this installation problem it sticks on Windows installer so every time it sticks I have to do the contl alt delete and it's always installer that shows up

I have at last bitten the bullet and paid money to Microsoft to have my computer looked at it turns out that my problems are all to do with the confounded Window 8.1 so I am at present contemplating removing 8,1 and reverting to 8 this will be the fourth reinstall this year and all to do with 8.1, I will post another question on the appropriate forum for tips on rolling back the O/S

Can you be more specific? One client was trying to install an old XP CD BURNING APP and the mess it made was not a Microsoft issue at all.

the NX instruction set in CPU's situation for windows 8. It's a requirement to run W8 now and odd processors of similar age either have or don't have it, making a crapshoot among those processors. Also the SSE problem comes into play, particularly on Intel processors.
