Question

unable to install programs

Jun 27, 2014 2:11AM PDT

I have been having trouble for some time installing programs, these programs are not of one type they can any type for instance I have just been trying to install Draftsight
from Dassault Systems I downloaded it from their, site saved it, and proceeded to install it but it gets to the section where the program is gathering info then freezes, so the next thing I did was to reboot in safe mode as I had saved it therefore didn't need a Wi-Fi connection proceeded to try and install it again this time I got a bit further then it stopped with an error when it was loading files, I have had the same problems with other programs since reinstalling W8.1, it seems as though something is blocking the installations I thought it might be the firewall (this is managed by Norton) what do you folk think?

Try disabling Norton and installing if you're sure it's not being blocked because a virus is being detected

I have just been onto Microsoft chat with my problem, they were as usefull as a chocolate teapot hardly started chatting before I was transfered to a "Tech team" were they wanted money, as the problem is with a Microsoft product I thought it a bit strong treating it like this, Microsoft Windows 8.1 is rubbish, but then you knew that already

8.1 here, I think it's great . If you have disabled Norton and the problem is still present I would have to defer to the Pro's .
