Unable to get 5.1 output, only PCM 2.0

Hello all. I have a new BDP-1500 which is connected to a Bose V20 via HDMI cable, and then to my Samsung 850 series TV. The HDMI is the ONLY cable connected from the player. For some reason, the Blu-Ray is only sending PCM 2.0 to the Bose all of a sudden. It's been working fine and I am sure it was 5.1, but now something has changed and I can't get 5.1 back, only PCM 2.0. If I switch the Bose to Cable/Sat I get dolby digital 5.1 just fine. What am I missing?

I changed the setting on the player to "recode", and now I am getting DTS 5.1 which is fine, but where did Dolby Digital 5.1 go? Maybe I am crazy?
