Unable to extract WINRAR files

Jul 18, 2007 9:27AM PDT

i have HP dv6000 laptop and my OS is Vista Home premium. I have been using WINRAR for almost 2 months. All of a sudden when ever i try to extract a WINRAR file, the following message is being displayed. "C:\XXX\XXXXX.rar The requested operation requires elevation."

Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem. thanks in advance.

Isn't WINRAR a 40 day demo?

If that's the case...

Be sure to give ExtractNow a look. It doesn't support the creation of compressed archives, but it can extract ZIP, RAR, and a dozen other file types with little fuss and free of charge.

I encountered this problem as well. You need to run the program as an administrator. To do this, right click the Winrar application icon and select "run as administrator".
