Unable to download windows security updates..

Jul 23, 2018 4:32AM PDT

Hi, I have windows 10 on my pc. Whenever I open my PC, a pop comes up and want me to install some security update from the windows. Like all other pop ups from windows, you just click on the install update thing and it starts downloading something from the windows server.

But after a few minutes...It fails and the following message comes up.

Something went wrong.

Microsoft can't install important security updates on your pc.

Please contact Microsoft support for help with this matter.

Please provide the support representative with this error code: 0x80072efd.

I don't know what is happening, I have installed the OS from the authentic source i.e. Microsoft website.

If anybody has any idea then please let me know. Please help me in this matter, so I can get rid of this problem.

Thanks in advance.

The error code 0x80072efd implies an issue with your internet connection. Thats the code usally shown when updates are not able to install due to issue with internet connectivity.

Try fixing the issue with your internet first by reconfirming the settings with your ISP provider.

If it doesnt work then also try the Windows Automatic Repairs.

To Launch this follow below steps:

1. Type Win+S.
2. Type Troubleshooting and press ENTER.
3. View All.
4. Go to System and Security.
5. Right click Windows Update.
6. Run as an Administrator.
7. Click Advanced.
8. Click Apply repairs automatically and click Next.

This should fix the issue. Let me know how it worked for you.
