Unable to Download Firefox 1.5 on iMac (10.4)

Dec 30, 2005 7:25AM PST

For some reason, I'm unable to download Firefox v1.5 from its Mozilla/Firefox web site or at least a couple others with same software available for download. It's as though my current Firefox, Safari, and IE prevent its downloading. Could it be caused by internal blocking software in Mac OS 10.4, any of these browsers, or through my Netgear WIFI server?

There is nothing in OS 10.4 that would block your download of Firefox. Can you download anything? If you can, can you find it afterwards?
Do you get any error messages? Does the download manager in IE and Safari indicate that the file was downloaded?
Do you have a PopUp blocker running on your browsers? This sometimes prevents the browser from going to the actual download page.

Need more information

Finally got Firefox 1.5 Downloaded
Dec 30, 2005 8:27AM PST

Thanks for your offer to help out. I had Firefox 1.0.5 (I think) installed until this last effort. I Googled the various choices for downloading Firefox 1.5 and finally found one web site that actually worked. I believe it was C|Net Download, but I tried so many I might not have it right. In any case, it finally worked. Until that success, I had no success whatsoever with the Mozilla sites, as they would return to choose "download" screen within a second of selecting the choice to download 1.5.

I downloaded V1.5. had problems with this and re-loaded V7. No problems with that version.
V1.5 had a problem with giff images not showing at all.

Mousoroma sent me instructions on how to change the preferences. Did not work for me however.
That's why I am back to one version that works for me?V7 for the Mac. Wonderful.
Not sure about the new Firefox 1.5

At the Mozilla site, there is not an option on downloading different versions lately.
V1.5 was a problem before and it seems to be a problem for me still.
You too??

K,
are you sure you are talking about Firefox?
V1.5 is the latest which would put V7 somewhere in the future.

Firefox V7

It went something like this I think: 1.0.7
Not V7 as some us call it.
V1.5 seems to be like ?Back to to the future? movie for me. Giff files do not show. Staying with V7 Krotonite version for now.
