Unable to download any software

Aug 21, 2004 11:38AM PDT

My Pc will not allow me to download any software on my system. My OS is XP Professional. Every time I try to install I get the message:
"16-Bit Windows Subsystem.
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-Dos and Microsoft Windows Application. ".
I used to be able to install programs and never saw a message like this. This is a mystery to me. Please Help!!!

Thank you for your fast reply but i'm not a programmer and the article you suggested is confusing to me. So i still have some questions about it.
1. What Cd do I use for the first part (XP or Application Cd)?
2. Where can I find "%SYSTEMROOT%\system32" ? All i find is a "system32" file on my Hard Drive.

It wasn't an article, but a discussion with 3 solutions.

I thank for bringing it to my attention that it had 3 different discussions and solutions. I was able to fix the problem by copying the "autoexec.nt" repair file and pasting it in the "c:\windows\system32" file.

I can't thank you and everyone else enough.

Glad it helped.

I find it far easier to travel a path that others have traveled. Sometimes you want to explore, sometimes you need to get there.
