Wow, what a coincidence. My neighbor on DSL had exactly that issue. Let me ramble about what transpired.
He called me up and I came over. I pointed a web browser at the Westell 327w dsl/wifi/router and it asked for the name and password. It didn't like what we had used before. No where in the documents was the default name and password. To help you fast forward the common name and passwords are "admin" for the user and either "admin" or "password" for the password.
After that hurdle we had to resetup the dsl modem/router to his account and it came back to life with the internet light back on.
Later it died but there was some heavy storms in the area the day before the 327w forgot all its settings.
Their internet connection was restored but was sluggish to non-existent so a call was made. I loaned him my old DSL modem and router which worked just fine so my call was the 327w had expired.
The DSL people sent out a tech and after 4 hours of checking wires, installing a new "home run" the modem was still not working proper and they decided the modem was indeed dead. The new modem arrived and after setup all is well again.

One of my corporate users works out of his home. He has AT&T / SBC DSL service and is running a Speed Stream modem. (I don't have the model number handy.) His computer is an HP Compaq nc6220 running Windows 2000. He also has a Linksys router with wireless access point - again I do not have the model number.
Up until last Wednesday my user had been connecting to the Internet without any problem. Now he cannot connect for anything - whether we do a direct connection from modem to laptop or go through the router.
I know the hardware is functioning because I had the laptop at the office on the LAN and on my own home network set up very similarly with the same ISP. Plus I am getting a solid green and a flashing yellow light on the Ethernet port on the laptop.
Of note on the DSL Modem these lights were on: Power, Ethernet, and DSL. The Internet light was not on. And the Activity light flashed occasionally.
My user has gone to get a new RJ45 cable and a new modem. Neither resolved the problem. I am at a loss as what to try next.
Any help or suggestions y'all might have I would be forever grateful.
Thank you in advance,
Jenn
