Unable to connect to a specific website

by Qcan23 / May 30, 2010 4:53 AM PDT

Up until yesterday afternoon, I was able to connect to Now, for whatever strange reason I am unable to connect. I know the site is up and running as I connected through another ISP. My initial thought after some tests was that it was my ISP. I contacted them, and they claimed they had no issues connecting on their end. Here is what else I have done.

- I pinged the website. It failed.
- I disabled my antivirus and firewall.... nothing.
- Turned computer on and off a few times... nothing.
- Resteted teh modem a few times.... nothing.
- I scanned my computer with multiple antivirus software and spyware....nothing.
- I tried 2 other computers (2 are connected directly into the router and one is wireless.... nothing.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciataed.

Some sites go down without notice. The site address eludes me and after reading your post 3 times I can only offer you should take your laptop to some free wifi spot and try again.

What site?

Hey Bob,

The site is

- I might add that I also tried Firefox with no luck as well.
- Yes, I in fact tried it in a hotspot and it did work.

So now I am confused. I am thinking that it is my ISP even though they claim that the site works on their end.

That's a betting site so many routers with parental controls will block that. I read your posts again and can't tell you you have the common router that has such controls.

In reply to: Ok.

I have successfully connected to this site virtually everyday for the past 6 years or so. Therefore, it can't be my router. There are no parental controls on any my computers. Further, I can access any other "gambling site" with no issues.

I can't figure this one out. Slightly baffling.

"It can't be that."

You know where to look first and what to remove first.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
