Hi I had the same problem and by the way I bet your windows update don't work either. Well you can fix it by going to http://www.updatexp.com/0x800B0004.html and doing step 4 . Let me know if it helps
running Windows XP Pro-SP1 all patches current as well as current AV definitions and behind a software firewall with router.
I downloaded the latest MSN Messenger version 6.1 and found that I could not access my 'hotmail' either from it or by going to my home page which is set to ca.msn.com and trying to get in from there.
I have reset privacy options to 'default' but have kept Security options at custom as I have since 1999.
I get to the hotmail page and when I try to sign in it keeps telling me that the site is not accessible.
have checked .Net status and everything is go.
have the appropriate rules in my software firewall to 'allow' to all ports, both TCP/ UDP both directions.
have un-installed the Messenger 6.1 and now running with Messenger 4.7 which defaults to OE 6.0.
still no change in accessibility.
the only thing I have not tried is to add hotmail to my OE and prefer to keep it that way because of the webmail concept.
can someone please help.
