UN55D8000 with dark horizontal shaded area

by TNbobtat / February 17, 2014 7:20 AM PST

I have a Samsung LED 3D 55" UN55D8000YFXZA 3 months out of warranty began showing about a 4" shaded area at the bottom of the screen. Rebooting the TV would make the problem go away but it soon became more of a problem. I've contacted Samsung support several times with the same results. "There is a problem with the TV" and "It's out of warranty". The TV is 2.5 years old. Each time I call or chat with customer support they act as if I am the only one with this problem. A simple search online and youtube shows several are having this problem. A few months after my problem my father-in-law had a Samsung 50" Plasma with a video control board fail. His was barely covered by warranty. I will never, EVER buy another Samsung product...EVER.

QUICK DO THIS!

At 3 months and mind you this is in the USA at samsung.com we register the set and get 3 more months then we are so close to being in warranty that they usually cover it.

I'm lost a little here why it was not taken care of way back then. Try the service issues post at the top of the forum and I wish you good luck. I know this is very upsetting but with every maker giving paltry warranties I think on expensive products (cars, etc.) we have to keep them in warranty or pay as we go.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
