UN55C8000 and Mac compatability

I recently purchased a Samsung UN55C8000 lED tv an can't get it to work with my MacBook. I have it hooked through mini display to HDMI adapter, and HDMI cable to HDMI DVI in in the TV. After spending an hour on the phone working with Samsung they told me the Mac was not compatable with this TV. I called Apple and got the same story. Is this true?
