UN55B6000 and other samsung LED TVs

by hangup / November 25, 2009 10:44 AM PST

Hi,

I'm considering purchasing one of the LED TVs made by Samsung.
However, I'd like to know if its firmware is linux based in case I will need to hack something.
My previous TV (RIP) was windows CE based and i'm not going to make a mistake of buying something like that again.
I know some other Samsung models are linux based but wasn't sure about the latest LED TVs.
If anybody knows anything please let me know.
Thanks!

hangup,

I can't answer inquires like that. Sorry.

The firmware updates are downloadable, however, so if you're so inclined, feel free to have a look.

I've downloaded users manual and it says right there that linux kernel is used.
so i guess this is not much of a secret Happy
for those who are interested, firmware update that i downloaded indicates that TV is running linux 2.6.18 for 32bit ARM.

i'll be on a lookout for deals on these TVs from now on.
