Question

UN46EH5300FX2A TV & HW-H450 Soundbar - One Remote?

Jan 31, 2015 12:03AM PST

I have a UN46EH5300FX2A TV and a HW-H450 Soundbar hooked up to it. I have HDMI cable hooked up to a DVD player and to the HDMI IN on the soundbar. From HDMI OUT to the HDMI 2 on the back of the TV. I have a Optical Cable connected between the soundbar and the TV. The Aux cable for sound is connected to the soundbar and the TV as well.

I CANNOT the soundbar to work with the TV remote. How can I do that?

I attempted to follow instructions in the soundbar manual with no success. I am unable to get the TV to "Add a Device". All that appears on the list is keyboard and mouse.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello Scriba_Golfer,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience! Do you have Anynet + enabled on the television?

Sorry, been away thus the not quick answer.

Yes I do have it. I have attempted to select that. I even watched some youtube videos on how to do this but with no success. I wouldn't think it would make a difference but I do have the TV setup with it wire to the internet instead of wireless. Helps with running many of the apps.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. After further research, the television doesn't have ARC (Audio Return Channel) functionality. Without this feature available on the television you would be unable to use the remote with the sound bar.

Thanks, I think, bit bummed, but at least I know why it won't work and it wasn't me not following instructions in the manuals. Tell me this though, will the sound bar work with universal remotes or does Samsung make a universal remote which can control sound bar, TV, DVD or anything else?

Certainly would be a benefit to use only ONE remote as opposed to 3 or more.
