UN46C6400 Optical out problem

by jp89_nnj / February 18, 2013 1:07 PM PST

Hi, just got a Samsung HW-E450C soundbar and am having problems using the Digital out optical connection from a Samsung UN46C6400 TV.
Here's my set up -
Cable box & Apple TV, each connected to the TV using HDMI, on HDMI1 & 2.
HW-E450C HDMI out connected to TV's HDMI4 port.
Optical out from TV connected to Optical in on the soundbar.
Enabled Anynet+ on both. TV detects soundbar and automatically changes Audio setup to use external speaker, but I don't get any sound.
Trying to use it as a simple external speaker, by disabling Anynet+ and disconnecting HDMI cables makes no difference.
Verified that the optical cable is good by connecting the cable box directly with the soundbar, which works. On connecting the optical cable to the cable box the other end of the cable shows light (one end not plugged in.) When I do the same with the TV, it does not light up. Do I have to do something to enable the Digital out (Optical) port?
Any help would be appreciated.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
