UN46B7000WFXZA 40" LED High Temp Crashing T CON Image Proces

Sep 1, 2009 11:47AM PDT

After only ten days of use of my bran new UN46B7000WFXZA and I have what appears to be temperature issues likely causing the T-CON LCD Controller to fail! I don't suspect the main card with the AV/HDMI inputs as the source of failure, however I could be incorrect. After the TV warms up the screen looses 90% of the image quality making it look like an old scrambled cable channel then the image changes to multicolor vertical lines (not a test patter).

It must be noted that this is not specific to the connected gear or cabling. It has failed with both HDMI inputs and direct component video just the same.

Only resolution is to shut off the TV and allow to cool.
It will happen about every fifteen minutes of operation after the unit has warmed up.

I placed an external cooling fan over the back grill over the T-CON LCD Controller and the TV runs up to an hour before failing.

The worst part is that Samsung's third party repair shop is telling me that the T-CON control card is on back ordered status from Samsung. I think ikely due to high failure rate Samsung has not prepared enough spare parts stock to keep up! The only way to get the replacement card is for the repair shop to order a complete LCD panel with T-CON attached that is about another five plus days out.

The LCD panel when the image is functioning properly looks great so it should NOT require full exchange of the LCD panel. However even my current unit has that much complained about inconsistances in black levels due to the LED side lighting.

Any one else having the same failing issue as described above with over heating and long repair turn around time with Samsung?

Note the UN46B7000WFXZA does not have any cooling fan implemented in its design because it raises ambient noise levels of a fan running.

Be aware this may not be the time to purchase first run of the Series 7 Samsung displays!!!

I'm still waiting for parts to show up so my TV can be repaired!

No sign of Samsung quality control before releasing units to retail.
Warranty spare parts not readily available.
Not happy!
