This news is so dishearting. It almost sounds as if very little has been accomplished.

"NATO has agreed in principle to expand into the provinces"; what in the world does that mean? If other natiions won't send troops to Iraq I doubt they would send them to Afghanistan, commitment or not.

The story "Deadly U.S. Raid" is too much like dozens of others. The US (or NATO?) has lousy Intellengence you would think they would quit listening to them.

Hi, Rosalie.

Our (IMCO misguided) effort in Iraq has had a very negative impact on our effort in Afghanistan. For example, we have a very limited number of Arabic translators and Special Forces teams (both very necessary for intelligence). Before the Iraq invasion, most of them were in Afghanistan, a few preparing for the Iraqi misadventure. Now 90% of them are in Iraq, leaving 10% for Afghanistan.
