Umax Scanner Turns out Yellow Scans

Jun 11, 2006 11:48AM PDT

Hi,
I have an inherited Umax 610P ( without power switch).
I downloaded the driver from Umax Support - but all scans ( and previews) have a yellow cast.
I'm getting 11.80 volts from the power supply.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Paul

Could be an old scanner.

Such things happen as things get old. Did you try a new bulb?

Umax Scanner

Hi,
Thanks for the reply - no I didn't try the bulb - I was thinking of taking it apart, though.
I guess this is a good time to do it, it's not working well anyway!

Try contact cleaner

As Robert mentioned, an old scanner has problems. I remember a similar issue and the results were more red. The pcb inside close to the scanner itself(I assume) has some ICs than can degrade casuing the balance to be off. The downright failure of any of these cause some color disordination(?) or such and really if you can find the ICs, etc. you're lucky. At the time, a defect was related to the problem mentioned above and warranty covered the issue. But in your case, SOL. I can only suggest further, you clean any contacts, etc. for best operation. If no bulb, an LED array, check operation. Weak solder joint too, resolder for 100% contact. Play away... Wink
