Uh oh... beware of logitech keyboards on WoW, Veronica!

So there's this story about how a guy who has a level 60 character on WoW and found his account canceled because he was using a logitech keyboard. Kinda sad after reading all the details to this case. Man, I didn't know Blizzard are that nit-picky!

I read through almost that entire exchange of e-mails. Having dealt with people who quite often have a very black and white approach to rules or laws, it always infuriates me to see more examples of it.

This guy clearly stated his case and to be honest, I think he may very well be able to drag Blizzard to small claims court (if the UK has such a thing) since it essentially involves a loss of money and time on his part.

Clearly, Blizzard is incapable of making a fair decision in this case so he needs to take it to a higher authority. I doubt Blizzard would appreciate the attention this would garner and might be willing to reinstate him to make it go away.

If I were him, I would at least attempt to visit their local office and try and speak with somebody in person.

interesting

to me, it still sounded a little like bot-ing on his part. i think Blizz may have been justified! he was using a macro that prevented him from going AFK, and doing repetitive motions over and over may have signified to Blizz that he was farming. maybe?

Just killing, not farming

I think he explained that he wasn't farming the loot, just killing low-level mobs to upgrade his weapons skills.

Seems a bit unusual at least

OK, I should preface this with two things. First, I am not a gamer. Second, I am not anywhere near 24 (on the high side).

That said I think this was bot-like activity and certainly skirting the line if not just over it. But you know, this 24 year old has a *job* after all and that means he knows everything there is to know. Wink

Seriously, he says he set up his computer to do some tasks to increase his hit score (or some such thing). That certainly qualifies as an unfair advantage to me. Even though there was no immediate "monetary" gain in gold you could certainly argue that this artificial increase in skill will later result in that kind of gain.

Yes, being banned was pretty severe. A warning and maybe the loss of some privilege or experience points or something might have sufficed.
