ue46b7070: cannot set backlight to static level

Aug 5, 2009 6:23PM PDT

Hello;
I am pretty pleased with my new ue46b707 LED set. There is one thing, however, that bothers me: Even though 'dynamic contrast' is set to 'off', the backlight changes quite a bit from dark to light scenes. This gives weird effects, like when parts of the picture goes darker, the rest of the picture follows. I know this is by design to 'enhance' the perceived contrast and black level, but the unintended effect is that some tv content looks really weird. I would like to set 'dynamic contrast' to 'off' and then set the static backlight level with the backlight adjustment, and have it stay there regardless of video content. THe way it is now, the backlight even shuts off completely if the picture is really dark. When watching in a dark room, it's quite disruptive.
Hoping for a firmware upgrade where dynamic contrast 'off' really means 'off'.

Thanks,
-Kris
