UE40B6000 or UE40C5100

by 33pgr / May 6, 2010 5:38 PM PDT

I was just about to buy a UE40B6000 LED TV when I heard that it was being replaced by the UE40C5100. I have tried to compare the specs and I can only see that the older model is 100hz while the newer one is 50hz. What else is different regarding the picture?

My family watches a whole mix of television content, but most importantly movies and football (soccer). We are unlikely to use the TV for Internet content.

I can still buy the UE40B6000, for about

33pgr,

I don't have specs for the C5100, and can only speak on U.S. products. What I can say is that the C5100 is the next generation of Edge-Lit technology versus the B6000

If it even remotely interests you to try the Internet@TV, it may be worthwhile to step up to the 2009 model. Some people who say that they're not interested in the Internet Content end up trying it and really liking it. But then again, the B6000 could very well fit your needs and save some money. That decision is best made by you.

Thanks for this. What about 100hz (B) vs 50hz (C). Will I lose out if I go for the C5100 when watching sports?

33pgr,

I would highly recommend the 100hz panels for watching sports. It does make a significant difference.

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
