ubuntu running minecraft

i have a 2003 sony vaio pcv-2220 and i put a game on it and now it wont run without restarting several times like its crashing and then when it loads up it has a critical error pop up... well that is my computer with minecraft and i have a HP Compaq nc-6220 laptop that runs linux ubuntu 12.04 and i've heard that you can play minecraft off ubuntu but i don't know how and I'm having withdralls from minecraft

the problem with that is when i looked it i found results only based on the later 10.7 ubuntu not the newer 12.04 ubuntu with capable speed step gpu function and having different cpu internal kernals that were taged along for extra speed. thus google is of no help
