ubuntu problem with linux OS

Apr 12, 2011 4:02AM PDT

On Sunday April 10th I ran an update of Ubuntu. I now have Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) GNOME 2.30.2 and Kernel 2.6.32-30 generic, GCC version 4.4.3

Since running the update I have been having quite a bit of trouble getting on the internet. I frequently get a message that says Can't find the server. At the bottom of the message I click the button for TRY AGAIN and it comes up most of the time but sometimes I have to click two or three times. I never had this problem with the previous edition which I think was 4.10 but I'm not sure.

I also get that message "Ubuntu can not find the server" when I use my bookmarks.

Is there anyway that I can go back to the version that I had prior to this one.

Thanks for the help

Bill Kute

You can download and reinstall old version.
If you have time you may also try clean install of new version.

Your problem you are having

You should update to Ubuntu 10.10 so you won't have much trouble with getting on the internet. Ubuntu 10.10 is the most stable release right now. Are you using ethernet or a PCI-E adapter for your wireless? I would recommend staying away from the USB wireless adapters, I know that the PCI-E adapters are better and will guarantee you a connection. Try using the ASUS PCE-N13 802.11bgn Wireless PCI-Express adapter. Just install and reboot after you upgrade to Ubuntu 10.10 and I will guarantee that you will be getting on the internet.

Try 11.04

There's nothing wrong with USB wifi adapters. My adapter is internally connected to USB and it never loses a connection these days, even when uploading big files to my server.

What was your USB Adapter that you have used. I have had issues with most of the USB Wifi adapters for Linux. Can you please provide the one you used.
