I was skeptical at first, but it's true. If they are willing to ship this distro for free, it must be worth it. I will try it. If I like it, God bless Ububtu!

Thanks for the post

Better - LiveCD!!!!
Jun 17, 2005 10:58PM PDT

People. There is a way to try a GNU/Linux Box without the needs to install it in your HardDisk. There is a tool named LiveCD that boots a GNU/Linux from a CD-ROM but with most functionallity of an installed version. The data in the CD-ROM is compressed so it can contain the kernel, the shell commands (programs than execute in like-DOS boxes) and graphic programs (like OpenOffice.Org, KDE, GNOME, etc). Of course you will need a high-speed InterNet connection to download the .ISO image for the LiveCD, and a CD-Recorder or DVD-Recorder to put that image in a disc. Once you have recorded the LiveCD, restart you computer with the possibility of booting from CD-ROM and enjoy GNU/Linux!!!!! The system is so great because it can detect the network configuration, and save your modification changes in a USB pendrive.

Regards.
Ariel.

It took the better part of three months to get the ten Ubuntu discs I ordered. I've given them out right and left.

BTW, I am posting from the Ubuntu live CD running on my kid's laptop
