I have to concur, it rocks!!! The mirrors will be slow for the next couple of days, but download yourself a copy.
Around this time last year, I decided to see what Linux was all about and installed Ubuntu on my Dell laptop. I've played around with it and tried pretty much every release since then. It was great, but it always had its share of problems.
Today's new "Gutsy Gibbon" release IMO is a total departure from that - I now would consider using it as my primary OS. Most importantly, everything works: my widescreen display now works at its native resolution right out of the box, and drivers for my Broadcom wireless card were a snap to get. The other new features like instant search and the cool new effects make it an OS I'd want to use day-to-day.
Here's the bottom line: If you've used Ubuntu in the past and had problems with it (or if you're a Linux newbie and want to try it out), give 7.10 a try. It's a Live CD; it won't bite.
