Billing Problems with AT&T
In August of 2013 AT&T enticed me to sign up for a year of Uverse TV & internet service at a teaser rate. Through July 2014 was relatively uneventful. Compared with TimeWarner their TV user interface was rather well-designed – sort of like comparing Windows and DOS. Consequently, I called in July and after one hour and being kicked up to a supervisor negotiated a new rate of $108.14 inclusive of even taxes for another year.
For several ensuing months the bill was increased, seldom by the same amount. I never objected when the difference was only a few cents. Otherwise I called and after about an hour and talking to two or more people got a credit to correct the billing and a promise that future bills would be correct. On one call I was told that there had been a general rate increase.
After several months I decided to pay the agreed upon amount and let them contact me. After three months I received an email and notice on the TV to call. Again one hour and two personnel levels they credited my account and seeming sincerely promised no more problems.
No change occurred. After three months I received an email, TV notice, and letter by US Mail and called on June 22. I taped this entire call. Surprise! A very cordial and agreeable young man agreed with me fully, promised to credit my account and correct future billings. We agreed that I would call them in August to negotiate another year of service. I paid my current bill. Second surprise! No credits as promised.
On June 25 no internet or TV. I called and my service was restored with 5 minutes, but the operator said that on June 22 I was signed up for a new one year contract, but she would credit my account for the prior incorrect charges.
Credits were recorded, but I now have a new bill of $140.31 for the period from May 25-June 24 and unagreed upon contract until 5/25/16..
Since August 2014 I have been lied to repeatedly.
