U.S. Government Spider

Feb 9, 2006 7:51AM PST

If they are going to spider the Internet themselves, why do they need the data from Google?

Also, should people who write about politics be concerned? People who are against things that are happening and write about them. Should we run out and remove our blogs?

--I guess removing the blog wouldn't help since Archive.org has probably already spidered them.

The gov't can already know anything about you they want to know about. Indexing a bunch of sites isn't going to give them much more information than typing "Terrorists" into Google. Don't be an idiot and contribute to the alarmists blowing the whole thing out of porportion.

Hopefully it is one of those things that shouldn't be blown out of proportion. I do agree with you, the Government already knows everything. Its sad, but true.

How can it not be something that shouldn't be over-hyped?

They're making their on search engine. Thats all it is.

Everything they will be able to find is ALREADY ON GOOGLE.COM AND THE INTERNET FOR THE WHOLE WORLD TO SEE!!!!!

If you want something to be private, DON'T PUT IT ON THE FRICKEN' INTERNET!!!!!

They just want to have a private resource they can gather statistics for/from, and use without worrying about upsetting a public company.

There's this thing called a social security number. Almost every piece of meaningful information about you is tied to it. I think the feds might have access to those numbers.
