I'll never forget...

visiting a social security office when I was in high school. I asked an employee why we couldn't keep our own money and invest it. He said, we (I and you) cannot be trusted to do that. The government has to take our money and do it for us. Irrespective of all the debates about SS funding, that was the insulting opinion of a SS employee.

The only concept with the premise is that Americans are sue-happy.

The first problem is that Amoxicillin is not effective against viruses and create superbugs if not taken until they are all dead. I know my symptoms and can call my doctor and he trusts me and will call a prescription in.

Can you imagine if the boy fell off the borrowed horse and was killed or had brain damage? The parents would sue until the horse owner no longer had a horse or house or even the clothes on his back.

Columbine, etal, has made all school officials paranoid. It has made them swing way to far the other way. It is ridiculous.

One of my sons has ADHD and I wouldn't allow them to drug him until he was an adult and could make his own decisions about what to take or not. He also has an aversion to taking anything.

Whoever makes fun of drinking in public has never gone to a baseball game.

As to riding in the back of pickups (I see this happening all the time (except in winter)), but, here again, they would sue the car maker and dealership if anything went wrong. Heaven forbid that they are responsible for their own actions.

It depends on where the crack is.

Social Security is not invested for your future. It is paying for people currently on social security and to help balance the budget.

"Patriot Act notwithstanding!"

I hope this is not an attempt on a conservative's part to excuse the blatant excesses of this ILL-CONCEIVED act (the Patriot Act and "Act II")passed by a bunch of fear-mongering congress members who should be strung up their provebial balls or appropriate ****.

Hi, Evie.

His first example is a horrible one. We're close to losing antibiotics as effective disease-fighters because of their over-use. The LAST thing we need to do is accelerate that trend by allowing folks to self-prescribe antibiotics when they aren't needed -- whether doing so represents more "freedom" or not.
