Typing issue, Virus??

Aug 21, 2010 7:09AM PDT

Hello,

I am having an issue typing with my vista running computer. When typing anything longer then a few words my courser will automatically go back to the front of the paragraph, sentence or what ever I am typing and will continue typing It happened twice whilst typing this post. At first I though it was me but it happens to my wife and anyone who uses this computer. Does anyone know if this is a virus?

Thanks

Is this a laptop?

If so, probably not a virus.

Most laptops now have a tracking pad instead of a hand held mouse. Mine does. I am continuously brushing against the pad when I type, even if I don't feel it. Some pads also have 'gestures', brief movements on the pad that move the cursor to specific points, or scroll screens, and so on.

Fortunately my laptop has a push on/off switch right next to the pad that I can depress, and this 'locks' the pad so the cursor doesn't move when I type.

Perhaps yours has a similar option?

Mark

It is a laptop but I know I am not brushing the pad. It just moves automatically. I don't have a switch like yours but wish i did. Thanks for the reply.

I don't have a problem with my current laptop, but with my old one I just laid a business card over the pad and that provided relief.
