Typed In Web Addresses

Jun 14, 2007 12:27AM PDT

Is there a way to deleat just web addresses that I have typed in without deleating all of my browser history? They appear in the drop down under the address bar. I have not found it as yet with Vista. Thank You.

You have to edit the registry...

You can do so, but you need to enter the system registry (press Windows + R and type in regedit), browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs, then delete the individual entries located in the right pane. The names will be "url1," "url2," etc, and the values will be the URLs.

Hope this helps,
John

It was used to be like this in XP.

John,

Wouldn't they be also deleted by unchecking 'Store and display a list of recently opened files'under Privacy in the Start Menu properties ?

No...

That setting just controls the storage of MRUs (Most Recently Used file lists) stored by Windows for display in places such as "Recent Items." It doesn't have any effect on Internet Explorer storing typed URLs as that data is logged and stored separately.
