The Y splitter effectively makes a single stereo jack plug into two.
Plug each powered set of speakers into each branch of the "Y", and they both get a shared output. However, be careful with volume, as when both are on the PC's output volume is halved, but if you switched a set off...
GeeBee.
I ran a 16 foot audio cable throught the Bonus Room floor from my PC into my garage to a 2nd set of powered speakers. Does anyone know if a y-splitter cable (Belkin makes an inexpensive one) work to connect the 1st set on my desk and the 2nd set in my garage to a single output jack on the back of my PC (the idea being I could just turn one set off if I'm in the other room though they are both receiving a signal)?
Thanks.
