Two BRANG NEW Samsung BD P1500 That Don't work

Dec 23, 2008 11:32AM PST

I bought the first bd p1500 the first week in Dec 2008 from Amazon.com. I pluged it in it power up by itself. It then would say it was loading the disc and then say No Disc. I Then try to open the disc door with the remote and the button on the player and neither work. I called Samsung and spoke to a CSR and they had me try to reset the player , to which it still didnt work. So I called Amazon.com back and they said that they will ship me a new player. Well another BD P1500 came today. I tried playing Ironman, Kung-fu panda and 300. Neither played. So I went to the Samsung website and d/l the latest f/w 081126_01_BDP1500_XAA to a thumbdrive. i only had the unzipped file on the thumbdrive when I put the thumbdrive into the player. I followed instruction to a "T" when i installed the new f/w. The player took the new f/w and shutdown. I removed the thumbdrive and turned the plaer back on.I checked to make sure that the f/w was installed corectlly and it was when i checked f/w ver. Anyway Very long story short.... I tried to play the 3 movies again and they still dont work. Now I am reaching out to you Mr.Samsung man(or anyone) for some advice b4 i send this non working player back too. thanks in advance.

Fatsamsung,

I'm sorry to hear you're having so much trouble.

When you say the movies don't work, are they not loading at all?

Or are you having trouble once you get to the menu?

If BDLive isn't connected, do you have that option turned off in the menu? (or can you even get there?)

PLAYER CANT READ ANY DISCS
Dec 24, 2008 4:26AM PST

MR.Samsung. sorry for not providing more details. The way it stands right now. I loaded the new f/w via usb. When I put in either Ironman,300,Transformer or Ku-Fu-Panda, the player puts this message on my tv screen "THIS DISC CAN NOT BE PLAYED".Samething applies for DVD disc too. Could their be a bad batch of 1500 BRP on the market? Please help!!!!!

STILL CANT GET PLAYER TO PLAY ANY MOVIES

Ok Mr.Samsung here is the latest w/my 1500 not working. I d/l the new f/w iso file and unzipped it and burned the file to a dvd-r disc. after I turn the player on, I open the tray and put the dvd-r in. I close the tray and the player tries to load the new f/w. It tries to load it for about 2-3 mins. Then the display on the BRP say"NO DISC".I called Samsung CSR told them of the problems and they suggested that I send the BRP in to a service center for repair.LOLOLOL. I am not going to send a Brand New unit in for service. This unit is also going back to Amazon.I asked the Samsung CSR why the new f/w file name that is on the site is 081126_01_BDP1500_XXAA. But after a sucessful install of the f/w via usb I look at the sys info and the file reads 081126_01_BDP1500_XAA
Does it make a difference that the file name is different on the BRP than on the website? Thanks in advance and HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL.....

fatsamsung,

By all means, if you'd like, return it.

I'm seeing a few of these posts come up, and I'm not sure what the issue is. I have forwarded this info to our Blu-Ray specialist to see what I can find out.
