Larry, recently ad-aware found two "data miners" on my pc. As removing them led to me being denied access to the net I put them in ignore as possible false positives.
Trying to find out more about them I downloaded the free versions of pestpatrol, sweeper and a trojan finder. pestpatrol found twain tech and spediabar. When I went to pp's site to find out what they were and manually remove them, I found that the entries in task manager and registry to be deleted did not exist.
The trojan finder Xoft found 5 objects no other system found. Sweeper found none. The fact is that all these systems throw up false positives. I have forgotten the site, but if you put "PestPatrol" and "false positives" in Google you will find that some users damn PP as the worst "false Positive" system and not to be trusted.
Cheers
Pest Patrol keeps finding Twain Tech (not sure of exact name) on my computer. (of note, adaware and spybot never do).
How do I prevent reinfection? Can I add a site to my hosts file?
(I use hosts file, spyware blaster, spyware guard, IE-spywad and spyware block list file)?
