Question

TV screen flickering when power turned off!

Jul 25, 2018 11:53PM PDT

Hi Guys. I have a Samsung UN55H6203AFXZA, approx 5 years old. The picture is dreadful and way off, probably through me trying to get the color to my liking too much! I have ordered a t-con board from ebay since I think this could be the problem, and according to youtube, I might just be able to fix it? I noticed tonight though that after I turned the TV off, the red standby light is on, but the screen is still flickering faintly across the bottom. I tried it a second time but the same scenario. Might the replacement t-con board do the trick, or is this another problem? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Moderators. I just noticed that I might have posted this on the wrong forum. Should I re-post this question on the general TV repair thread and cancel this one? Thank you.

Go ahead and try.

There are few to no TV techs responding so be aware that most replies are to arrange for repair or cull what you can from the service manual and the web.

"Go ahead and try" on the correct forum?

Hello, thank you for your response. I clearly entered my problem on the incorrect forum. Nothing TV related on this one. I'll go ahead and put it on the general TV forum if thats okay. Somebody might have encountered the same problem on there surely?

To me this is one of the right forums.

Try https://www.cnet.com/forums/tvs-home-theaters/ as well as AVSforum.

But keep in mind few TV techs have yet to regularly post. I think why is that owners, members have demanded a lot from them. They want accurate diagnosis on sets that are not on the service bench. Sorry folk, you have to take the advice where you can find it and always say please and thank you when they reply.

If you dont mind, I have to say that I dont understand your 'recommendation' above regarding my etiquette, and to be perfectly honest I think the comment was a bit rude and unnecessary. I had only had two responses prior to your observation, and I clearly said "thank you for your response" at the commencement of one reply. I'm sorry you felt moved to talk to me like a child, but I suspect I'll get over it. Thank you.

I apologize for that impression.

That was more about why it seems to be the cause of the lack of TV Techs posting. It was not a reflection on your posts.

I hope many read these replies and thank any TV Tech that dares to write about TV repair.

I'm only an electronics designer with background in many video designs over the years. Along the way I also had to diagnose and repair these systems but worked hard to avoid being a TV repair person. The devices I worked on were pretty expensive and a dead TV or display was just replaced (heresy to some.) But if a tech wanted to give it a try I was there to help them along once we had a Service Manual.

Sorry if I upset you. I only wish that TV Techs would show up and that if any ever do will always thank them.
