TV Program Recording Issues

Jan 9, 2015 5:50PM PST

TV Model: Samsung UE65HU8500T
A/V Receiver: Onkyo NR709
Hard Drive: Samsung M3 Portable 1TB - USB3 Bus powered.

Freeview Signal: 100% Strength and Quality (Consistent across all HD Channels). As measured via the TV Panel software.

Now on 2nd Panel (Brand New) and 3rd Connect one Box (Brand New).
TV Software updated to 1200.04 (from Samsung Website).

The TV appears to be unable to record TV programs on a consistent basis and with any accuracy.

This is an on-going issue.

I have tried resets and using a different Hard Drive (own external power supply), on both USB2 and USB3 ports with no difference to the issue.

TV programs are set up to record via the guide and this seems to be ok. But on checking the recorded material the following may have happened,
A) 2 programs recorded ok,
B) 1 Program recorded ok, the other recorded for a
random amount of time,
C)Nothing recorded

The schedule manager may show the following,
A)Programs Recorded
B)Programs still recording (even though the program(s) have ended)
On point B above my record so far is 8 programs being recorded at the same time, even though 6 of them were way past broadcast time.

On advice on from Retailer I have also tried a 64GB Flash Drive to record on, connected via USB2 port. No change in recorded results.

Have tried on Freesat with the same results.

Now just have Freeview connected and the A/V Receiver connected HDMI Port 1. A/V Receiver was connected to HDMI ARC Port.

My retailer seems to think I have a unique problem as no other buyers of this TV have had these issues.

Any help or suggestions welcome, as now getting quite paranoid

1. Call it in.
2. Return products that don't seem to work.

The recommended storage device is a USB HDD (Hard Disk Drive), Both AC powered and USB power HDD. USB HDD (Hard Disk Drive) operate between 5400rpm (USB powered) - 7200rpm (AC powered), this means that they have a higher constant read and write, this is essential for the recording function, USB memory sticks on the other hand fluctuate greatly in their reading and writing capabilities, this makes them unreliable when it comes to purchasing a USB storage device for the TV's recoding function.
