HDTV have exactly the right resolution to view HD video's on: 1920x1080. You can get a bigger screen, but such a movie would use only part of it or be enlarged and get a lesser quality. So there's nothing against using a TV screen to view a movie.

I just bought a13" new laptop and I'm now in the market for visual display option. I would sit about 3 to 4 feet from my display option. I know most tvs now have HDMI and other computer input options. I assume that tvs (even HD tvs) have a lower resolution but it can't be that much of a difference. Why should I buy a monitor when I can have a large hd tv to do work and watch movies on?
