TV lag specs for analog and Wii gaming

by Gamecock77 / November 13, 2012 8:12 AM PST

I am in the market for a new HDTV, and I have been searching unsuccessfully for lag specs on current HDTVs. I need a TV exceptionally low lag, because I love to play Wii and old school system games. Ive gathered that Plasma is the best for this type of application, but I have not found lag specs for any current HDTV. No, an old SDTV is not an option in my case. Any recommendations for best current HDTVs with very low lag and/or exceptional lag reduction?

What lag?

Almost all sets have a gaming mode or another way to turn off video processing.

My current LCD set has a gaming mode that does virtually nothing to reduce lag. It is not possible to play old analog games due to this. I have found very little information on the gaming mode as a feature on new sets throughout my online research.

Sorry but models change not only with time but with location. It would be impossible to be exact in any replies but I have a Wii on a Samsung and it's fine. I thought about what you did and split the analog video to an old CRT and the Samsung showed the exact image so the delay was identical.

Hope this helps,

PS. Next time, try supplying the make/model of what didn't work so folk can hear about it.
