Question

Tv drops signal intermitently.

Jun 29, 2018 6:35PM PDT

I have a Toshiba tv that I have a old game console plugged into. After a few minutes of play the tv looses the signal for a second and regains it, the proceeds to loose it again. Can anyone help me solve this problem? Thanks!

This could be the time to try another channel if on RF and other cables if on composite. Or the game console is showing its age.

Thanks for pointing out details missing in the original post.

I'm using regular composite cables, not RF. The console I'm playing on is not the only one having this issue. Two other different units (one a original PlayStation, the other a PlayStation 2. The current console connected is a N64), it must be the TV because of this. I've also turned off the enhancements the tv had on (edge enhance, dynamic noise, etc) and even tried enabling the game mode to see if that helps (it didn't).

Last hurrah before a change in TVs.

Be sure the firmware in the TV is current. Follow the maker's instructions on how to do this or call in and have them check and assist.

Be sure to try other RCA cables. The yellow cable in the set must be the composite video cable. Red and white might not be suitable in some old cable sets. Try another yellow cable.

I don't have a full TV model to see if there are reports and fixes but often you have to change the TV or try some composite to HDMI convertor box.

Nothing new.

So I plugged the console directly into the tv rather than having an extension, and nothing changed. I checked for a firmware update, but they haven't released any newer versions. I'll test it with another Toshiba tv in my home to see if it is just a problem with the whole brand or just this model. Who knows... I've been wanting a tv with HDR for a bit anyway, so...

Add in a link to this model TV. Otherwise all advice is generic. What is this EXTENSION?
