TV DISPLAYS ONLY DESKTOP

Oct 23, 2010 5:32AM PDT

I seem to be still experiening the same problem but it has improved since I last posted on this site. My Panasonic 50" TV detects my PC at a resolution of 1024x768 at 48.2khz and 59.8hz. So my TV displays my PC's desktop at a darker color than my pc and the font looks a bit fuzzy until I change the dot clock and clock phase on my TV. The real problems is if I open a file, folder, the internet, or anything at all, the screen becomes fuzzy and then black. Despite that, it displays the desktop perfectly unless I try to open anything. So I can't really do anything except look at my desktop. I would really appreciate it if I could get some info or help on this, really!

Thanks,

Aden.

What I'm doing about this.

I'm moving away from analog VGA connections and only install HDMI and if that's not available DVI digital connections. HDMI is preferred.

Do you mean....

So you mean that I should buy an hdmi cable and use that, right?

If you can.

There could be other options but you didn't post a link to the TV's PDF manual. For example the SAMSUNGs have more options when you label the input "PC". Strange but you don't know to do that unless you call support or read the manual.

Also there are hundreds of settings to play with. At first it seems like a jungle. Later it still feels like that but you learn what to try first.

Settings..

So you mean that the cause is from the tv and I should play with the settings from that. Why is it that whenever I open somehting, the screen becomes fuzzy then black. It seems to stay fine whenever the desktop is displayed. By the way, thanks for helping me again.

VGA for example.

Is an analog signal so it can fuzz depending on what is on screen. Moving to hdmi or a digital dvi removes that effect. As folk demand I fix it, I have to move to what works most of the time.

HDMI cables are not too expensive. I got a few from geeks.com, newegge.com and amazon.com
