Turtle Beach Santa Cruz

Aug 4, 2004 3:04PM PDT

Is there no 98 SE Driver for this card? All the drivers I can find are for XP, 2000, ME, apparently WDM which doesnt seem to work in SE or the card is gone funny. Windows detects it on startup but the driver cannot and it does not show in device manager.

Can I ask if you looked at the maker's web site?

Bob

My brain doesnt work too well and sometimes things are indecipherable to me. For some reason all I saw was bits and pieces that looked like no more than isolated dlls and so on. Thanks.

Re: Nice card with nice control panel...

I trying it out in a machine that had a vortex 8110 in it that was too soft and full of static. Had tried everyting I could think of to fix it including putting another identical card in there. The Santa Cruz works very nicely. What could be the problem with the vortex in this machine?? It's a k62 500 on a Soyo sy5ema pro running 98 SE. Vortex sounds like the speaker wires are crossed or the amp is overdriven. That kind of sound and too soft. The farther up you set the volume control in Windows the worse the static gets.

The Aureal Vortex.
Aug 5, 2004 10:06AM PDT

Aureal imploded some years ago and took with them the technical information with them to make Linux support and driver development nearly impossible. If you have an Aureal based board, it will be what it will be. It's gone and hopefully someone from the Aureal effort will release the information someday. But with other cards out there, we just pull the Aureal and toss in the dumpster.

Sorry,

Bob
