Tungsten E2 buzzing noise

by whizkid454 / July 21, 2006 10:46 AM PDT

I have (as you can prob tell) a Palm Tungsten E2 and have had it for about six months. Within the past couple days, I have heard this strange high-pitched buzzing/ hissing noise heard only if it facing towards you. I turn it over and put my ear up to the back and hear buzzing also. Is this normal for a PDA to become "louder" after a couple months of use? Its kind of annoying and would prefer not to have it.

Has it been dropped?
by John.Wilkinson / July 22, 2006 1:52 PM PDT

If you listen closely in a completely silent area with the PDA right up to your ear you can usually hear a high-pitched noise, but it's very faint. If you can hear it during normal use when it's a good two feet from your ear then there's something wrong. Has it been dropped, shaken, etc recently? Something could have been knocked loose in it.

Try overclocker apps to reduce the noise
by maceyr / July 24, 2006 4:26 PM PDT

Buzzing or whining noise from Palms unfortunately are common for many users. I have not experienced it on my Zire 71 nor the Treo 650 but many people have complained about it.

Some people have mentioned using overclocking apps like Clievideo's LightSpeed ( http://www.clievideo.com ) or warpSpeed ( http://www.palmpowerups.com ) or the new freeware called No More Tears ( http://hackndev.com/node/441 ) to run the Palm at a lower or different speed and it changes the pitch so that it's less noticeable.

Many people have said they work and some says they don't. Best way is to try it yourself and see if they work.
