Tuneup utilities crashing

Aug 22, 2010 6:24AM PDT

good day all, i have a dell xpsm1530 laptop running windows vista home premium. i downloaded Tuneup Utilities 2010 trial version about 4 days ago along with some other software, i have malwarebytes, avg, and comodo internet security (firewall) installed. i also put on some customizations, vistaglazz, styleselector, object dock. my computer was really bare of stuff.

anyway, i also had adaware, which i uninstalled. and glary utilities which i also uninstalled.

i have been getting this message a lot since i downloaded tuneup utilities.

"Tune up utilities stopped working and was closed. A problem caused the application to stop working correctly, Windows will notify you if a solution is available"

i'm not sure how to address this, i've heard so many great reviews about tuneup utilities 2010 and i want to purchase it, but if this error message continues i won't be able to do that.

can anyone assist me.

i'm running Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2

My first thought

is to not use any optimiser or tune-up utilities. They can often cause more problems than answers.

However if you want to use it, try uninstalling it, rebooting the system, then re-installing it.

Just a check on your security apps. Comodo and AVG. Does this AVG also include it's own firewall? I just wonder if these two are conflicting in any way.

You've done a lot of GUI 'customisation' very quickly. These things, like Object Dock, tend to change and take over system settings, and that always concerns me.

when i go into windows security center, i have never seen that AVG is reporting a firewall. all i saw was windows firewall. i know AVG to be just a antivirus and antimalware program and so on never really saw a firewall component, unless that will be understood by these programs.

the error message kept coming up before i installed the firewall so i suppose the extra firewall didn't cause my issues..............

well thank you so much for your assistance, i went into task manager to look at the service and since then i haven't gotten that many error messages, maybe my system needed to settle down with all the changes. if it persists, i will have to uninstall the tuneup.

have a great day!
