Question

Tuner needed?

I have a Gateway desktop I3core,8gb ram.1 tb hd.Also have 32"HD tv 1080p,HD cable box.Question is do I need a tv tuner in my computer(does not have one now)to receive any and all tv signals through my computer? I need to record to my hard drive.
Appreciate any help.

To record in HD from HDMI is EXPENSIVE.

I think my original question was misunderstood.Using my computer to record TV programming, is a computer tuner needed?Consider I have the TV tuner and the cable box tuner,why would I need a computer tuner for over the air recordings,analog or digital?
