Tryna download the FREE AVG ANTIVIRUS EDITION and it NO GO

Can anyone give me any advice on what I can do to download the FREE EDITION of AVG ANTIVIRUS software? I keep getting FAILED due to lack of virtual memory. What does this mean? How can I fix it?

I have an old GATEWAY tower with WINDOWS XP Pro, and I have a alotta pics of our new baby daughter!!! [another Q - where can I save all my pics of her online or also, how do I backup my files? I tried a ZIP plus drive, but its also a no go.]

Also, does this AVG do the same thing as the NORTON product that costs $50? Or do I have to shell out the $50?

All help appreciated!
