Trying to understand a think about Windows Security Center

Hello.
I stopped windows automatic updates. Taking the red security center icon in the right lower corner of the taskbar to nagging I stopped manually windows security center service. My question is whether will or not windows firewall still protect me if it is on and will i still be notified by it when some program is trying to go online?

As long as you didn't shut the firewall

off when you shut the Automatic Updates off it will still protect you for incoming threats BUT Windows Firewall does NOT protect outgoing threats regardless of the settings. As far as notifications, that depends on how you have the Security Center set as to notify you.

One more thing besides my first post

This Microsoft link explains everything, including video tutorials if you would like you view them also. It's a good link to keep until you are completely familiar with SP2.
