The usual course is to backup whatever files your do not want to lose, to some external media such as floppy/CDR/networked computer. Then put the restore cd in the drive and restart the computer. The bootable cd will show you the rest of the way.
About a year and a half ago I got a virus and was told the best way to fix it would be to do a restore and reboot, stripping my computer down to nothing, and restoring it to what it was like when I took it out of the box. I did that, it worked great, and I loved having a "fast" computer again (for a while at least). I have an emachines366 with 64MB (win9
. Anyways I wanted to do it again because I seem to have so many errors and glitches going on, and am down to 32% free space. So I have my restore & reboot cd, but cannot remember how we did it! Can someone please tell me how to get started? When I put the cd in it does not auto prompt for anything. Do I have to erase one way and then put the cd in to restore? TIA...
