Trying to remove CD-ROM Drive in a Sony PCX-R550

by RADIO518 / November 16, 2005 10:54 AM PST

I have to replace the burner in our studio's Sony Vaio.

How does this darn thing come out? I have the left side panel off and the top piece comes off easily enough. Sony gives no documentation on installing or removing the optical drives.

I see the two side screws on the drive, and it looks like it should come out the front, but frankly I'm lost. Does the other panel come off? Would appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance

The optical drives slide out of the front of the computer. You will need to remove the front cover. There should be 6-7 tabs that need to be pushed down (or up) to remove the front cover (they are located inside the computer) then the drives just slide out.
Hope this helps.
